Chay Schmidt

Chay Schmidt (he/him) is a multidisciplinary designer, strategist, self-taught photographer, wordsmith, and avid banana bread baker. Currently a resident of Manhattan, he has lived and studied in Singapore, Moscow, Houston, Tulsa, and New York City.

For over four years, Chay has been helping brands and agencies develop timeless designs grounded in thorough research and systems thinking. A lifelong student of visual culture, his self-generated projects explore using visual metaphors and abstraction to contextualize social critique.

Chay holds a BFA in Graphic Design and a BA in Media Studies from the University of Tulsa, as well as an MPS in Branding from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Since earning his graduate degree, Chay remains involved in education as a Teaching Assistant and Thesis Advisor in the Master’s in Branding program at SVA.
